The Causes and effects of the main character's depression in Yasunari Kawabata's the sound of the mountain

The Sound of the Mountain portrays the life of Yasunari Kawabata?s
main character, Ogata Shingo who has experienced some of painful events in his
life that bring him into psychological problems. The thesis writer finds the
psychological problem of the main character is depression. The thesis writer is
eager to find out the causes and effects of Ogata Shingo?s depression. To obtain
the purpose of this thesis, the thesis writer applies literary approach by using the
theory of conflict and characterization. The thesis writer also uses the concept of
depression to support the analysis. These theories and concept are used in order to
help the thesis writer recognize the causes and effects of Ogata Shingo?s
depression.
