A Study of theme and technique in Amy Lowell's poems

This thesis is an analysis of amy Lowell's poems .
ln trying to understand more about the values of human 's
life that Lowell qets Trom her experiences , the writer
of this thesis decides to study the themes and techniques
in Lowell's poems . The research , therefore , deals
with two areas which are goinq to be carefully clarified.
Firsk , the study is focused on the element of
theme such as love , pain , passion and beauty of nature
as they are exgressed in Lowell's poems . The study also
discusses the techniques which Lowell uses in her poems .
The techniques consist of the use of imaqe as proposed
by the lmagists , polyphonic prose that Lowell derives
from the conventional methods of poetry , and figurative
language .
The writer of this thesis is interesked in doinq a
study on this topic since she is impressed by Miss
Lowell's memorable poems . When the writer of this
thesis reads each poem more than twice , she finds her self
more excited . Therefore , she uses her full concentration
searching and analyzing the important
materials of Lowell's poems that can help her to
complete her study .
Finally , the writer of this thesis admits that
Lowell's poems are rich in details , emotions , expressions and imaqes io revealing the central ideas of the
poems. She concludes her study by presenting a comparison
of Lowell's poems , in order to help the readers see
more clearly and understand better Lowell's goems
