Comprehension texts for students of architectural engineering

For more-than a million years, man was coherent to make his home in caves
whenever he needed protection from weather or wild animals. Because early
man was a hunter and gatherer of food, he did not need a permanent shelter
However, he was artistic. The walls of many cave dwellings were decorated
with fascinating pictures of animals. Early man was also a toolmaker who
shaned useful axes and knives out of stone or flint. But because he was a
nomad, following herds of animals from places to place, he never became a
builder.
