Types of semantic mechanism of humor found in Hannah Montana serial drama

In this research the writer is interested in the types of semantic
mechanisms that used in Hannah Montana serial drama. Secondly, the writer also
wanted to know which type will use the most frequently. The data of this study
were gathered from the Hannah Montana serial drama transcript from seasons 2
and 3. There are 22 jokes that the writer observed. These jokes were analyzed by
using semantic mechanisms, which consisted of lexical ambiguity, grammatical
ambiguity, and truth conditional semantic also causal fallacy. This study was a
quantitative descriptive approach. The writer gathered and analyzed the data to
answer her curiosity. In achieving her purposed, the writer divided her analysis
into 2 parts. The first one was the writer analyzed all of the data to find out what
manipulation or what kind of semantic mechanism used in this serial drama. The
second step showed how the results of the first analysis were put into a table to
show which types of the semantic mechanism used the most. Then the writer
found that the semantic mechanism used in this thesis were lexical ambiguity,
truth conditional semantic, and the causal fallacy. Also, the most semantic
mechanism was lexical ambiguity.
