Errors of the Indonesian sentence structures and orthographic convention in the theses of marketing mangement students of Petra Christian University

This research is about the sentence structures and orthographic convention
that occured in the twenty theses made by students of marketing management,
Faculty of Economic, Petra Christian University batch 2008-2009. The writer
categorized the errors that the students made based on the errors which are caused
by ambiguity errors, sentence errors by diction errors (Sugono’s book), errors in
the writing element absorption, incorrect lower-case letter (by Pusat Bahasa’s
book), errors in differentiating di as a preposition and di- as a prefix (by Badudu’s
book). The Writer wants to find out the frequencies of the errors that the students
had made. She asked her friends to collect twenty theses (chapter 5, conclusion
part) to gain her data. The Data were all sentences contained grammatical and
conventional writing errors. The Writer used qualitative approach and she
analyzed the data by comparing all the errors that the students had made. The
result of this research indicates that most students made errors in the writing of the
absorption elements in their theses.
