analysis, the existence of Fate in the play by exploring all roles Fate undertakes. For the analysis, I explore some concepts concerning literary elements, such as plot, conflict, character, setting, and symbols. Furthermore, to support the analysis, I provide several concepts of tragedy, fate, escapism, and most importantly, absurdity. In the analysis, I discover several evidences of Fate?s roles in making the tramps wait for Godot. The first evidence of the Fate?s roles is apparent in the major characters? failures to escape, either physically or mentally. All endeavors they try fail completely. Fate prevents them from escaping. The next evidence lies in the revelation of their destiny that is brought to them by other characters. In order to undermine the tramps? intention of leaving, Fate reveals that the outer world is deadly
and full of hostility. Next, through Pozzo and the boy messengers, Fate reveals the whole message of their fate implicitly. Finally, at the end of the analysis, we will get an impression that eventually the whole play is about the process of revealing the protagonists? true fate, that is waiting for Godot.
