A Semantic study of the script found in the humor of AA Gym's sermons

This study is about humor. It focuses on the scripts, and the semantic
script-switch trigger. In his study, the writer intends to find out the scripts, and the
semantic script-switch trigger used by Aa Gym within the humor, that he
expressed. The writer chooses Aa Gym because the way he delivers his sermon is
unique. Aa Gym provides examples of the uniqueness of expressing message or
moral lesson in a different way, which is by using jokes that express humor. The
writer uses Raskin?s theory of humor, scripts and semantic script-switch triggers.
The writer analyzes all of those aspects that exist in the humor, which are
delivered by Aa Gym in his sermons. The writer uses descriptive approach in
analyzing the transcription of the series of sermons. After doing his analysis, the
writer finds that opposing scripts and semantic script-switch trigger are important.
For they will assist Aa Gym and the audience to comprehend humor. Aa Gym
needs to have sufficient and pertinent background knowledge and beliefs to create
the humor, as well as, expectation that correspond to the moral values that he
wishes to share. The audience needs to have sufficient and pertinent background
knowledge and beliefs in order to understand the humor and grasp Aa Gym?s
message.
