Grammatical cohesive devices used in website banners

This study is about grammatical cohesive devices that are used in website
banners. The writer realizes that creating banners in very limited space needs cohesive
devices to make it efficient yet detailed and understandable for the readers as the
prospective consumer. The writer wants to find out the kinds of Grammatical Cohesive
Devices which used in the banners and the frequency of occurrence. This is a
descriptive-qualitative study, as the writer describes and explores the cohesive devices.
The cohesive devices in this study are classified based on Halliday and Hasan?s (1980)
Cohesion in English. There are 20 grammatical cohesive devices found in the banners,
and Nominal Ellipsis was found the most. While the least occurrence were Verbal
Ellipsis and Temporal Conjunction. There were also some Grammatical Cohesive
Devices which did not occur in the data such as Endophora, Nominal Substitution,
Clausal Ellipsis, Adversative Conjunction, Logical Sequence Conjunction,
Contrast Conjunction, Non-contrast conjunction, and Expansion Conjunction.
