Abstract
Throughout the world, artists actively engage in community relationships, often facilitated by service organizations, arts centres, schools, universities and community centres. In their creative endeavors, community-based artists value methods for building consensus, workable agreements and open sharing. They strive for understanding amongst individuals with common goals, despite cultural and class differences, developing works that provoke discourse, stimulate participation and encourage action.
