The Relationship between Kim and the thesoo lama as seen in Rudyard Kipling's Kim

Rudyard Kipling was a great writer in England who got a Noble Prize in
Literature. Kim is Rudyard Kipling?s masterpiece novel. Kim is an adventure story
that tells about a boy?s adventure with a holy man. The main characters are Kim
and the Tibetan Lama, who have a good relationship. The thesis writer is curious
to know how Kim and the Lama can make a good relationship although they are
from different backgrounds. She wants to find out the factors that create the good
relationship between Kim and the Lama; what kinds of relationship exist between
Kim and the Lama, and the results of their relationship. In order to achieve the
purpose of the study, the thesis writer uses literary approach. She applies the
literary theories, namely characterization and setting as tools to analyse. She also
applies the concepts of love and relationship to support the analysis. In the
analysis it is proved that there are four factors that bind them and create a good
relationship between them. There are also three kinds of relationship existing
between them. And there are two outcomes as the results of their relationship. The
thesis writer concludes that a good relationship is the base of having a better
world.
