The Causes and effects of the main character's being egoist as seen in Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves

This thesis is mainly about the causes and effects of the main character?s
being egoists as seen in Isaac Asimov?s The Gods Themselves. The thesis
discusses why Frederick Hallam, Tritt and Barron become egoists and the effects
of their being egoists to Peter Lamont and Selene. Because Frederick Hallam,
Tritt and Barron want to pursue their own self-interest they act egoistically.
Moreover, the egoism affects the life of Peter Lamont and Selene. Therefore in the
analysis the thesis writer finds out the causes and the effects of the main
character?s being egoists. To analyze the causes and effects of the main
character?s being egoists the thesis writer uses literary approach, theories of
characterization and conflict and also egoism concept. The thesis writer uses the
theories of characterization and combines it with egoism concept in order to find
out which character traits that causes their egoism. The thesis writer also uses
theories of conflict and combines it with egoism concept to analyze the effects of
the main character?s egoism. The thesis writer finally finds out that pride, desire
and hatred are the causes of their being egoists and also destructiveness and
behavior change as the effects of their being egoists.
