Nothingness in life as seen through its characters and setting in Eugene Ionesco's The Chairs

Man's life is not empty, if man's position in his world is obvious and his identity is undoubted, if he can get along and communicate well with other people, also if his actions are based on his own will. The time setting of the play shows that since man's life is absurd, time has lost its importance. The place setting of the play pictures the unreality of man. Thus, both time and place setting embody the theme of the play.
