Understanding human personalities among service and bar staffs in order to gain best quality of service in the Oriental Swan Restaurant

This thesis is written by the writers as the requirement to finish the writers’ study in Hotel Management of Petra Christian University, Surabaya-Indonesia, and as the final part of traineeship with Christelijke Hogeschool Noord-Nederland, in Leeuwarden. On the whole, this thesis will analyze the importance of knowing and understanding others’ personality. The first part of this thesis will introduce the history of The Oriental Swan Restaurant. “The Oriental Swan” is a Chinese restaurant, which is located in Rademakerstraat 2, Soesterberg, the Netherlands. The second part of this thesis is qualitative research, which is started by reviewing the literature. The literature review shows the definition of personality, the types of personality, and the mixing of personalities in one person. The third part will show us the research of the thesis, including how to count the percentage of personality in the restaurant, and discuss the problems that may appear from each personality, and the way to solve the problems out. And the last part of this thesis will be the conclusion of the whole thesis and the writers’ recommendation.
